    Course Name: Leading the Self                         Code: MLI201

    Aim: At the end of the course, the students will understand one's own personality in the psychosocial and multicultural context.

    Objectives:
    At the end of the course, the students will
    • Enhance their self understanding and self concepts
    • Improve their self esteem, self confident and reliable.
    • Develop their cognitive, critical and communicative skills
    • Understand their self in the family, community, organization and at the society at large
    • Know their weakness, strengths, opportunities and challenges through SWOC analysis.
    Unit I – 20 hours (12 hours theory, 8 hours practicals)
    Human dignity, Understanding of one's own personality, Id, Ego and Super Ego, theories of personality – Freud, Carl Jung, Eric Ericksons, etc, stages of Psychosexual development, Personality and Attitudes, understanding of the self in Buddhism, Islam and Christianity, Confucianism, Hinduism, Self and Spirituality, discernment as a tool for proper decision making.
    Unit II - 20 hours (12 hours theory, 8 hours praticals)
    Self Esteem, Self understanding and self concepts, Self care, modern and postmodern view of the self, Philosophical foundations, power of positive thinking and power of affirmation, positive imaging, Emotional Intelligence, Emotions and Moods
    Unit III - 20 hours (12 hours theory, 8 hours practicals)
    Theories of communication, public speaking, debates, Neuro Linguistic Programming, Journal writing, Perception and Attribution, alternative frame of reference. Life purpose, vision, mission and goal setting.
    Unit IV – 20 hours (12 hours theory, 8 hours practicals)
    Socio-anthropological theories, Theories of behaviour, Theories of learning, Values and culture, Demographics, group and family influence, Theories of motivation
    Unit V - 20 hours (12 hours theory, 8 hours practicals) Johari window model of self awareness, Psychographics-Values Personality, Self and Lifestyles, SWOC analysis, SPACE matrix analysis, personal financial management
