Myanmar Leadership Institute, fondly known as MLI, was inaugurated in a very simple but an impressive way on the 19 October, 2018. In the loving presence of the Yangon Jesuits, all the Council Members, the staff and students of MLI and other invited guests, Fr. Mark Raper, the chairman and the Mission Superior blessed and inaugurated the MLI. Joseph Antony Jacob, the first director of MLI welcomed the gathering and shared the objectives of MLI. MLI is the first catholic leadership institute in Myanmar run by the Jesuits with full support and collaboration of the Archdiocese of Yangon. Myanmar Leadership Institute (MLI) prepares emerging leaders in the fields of education, business sectors and civil society in Myanmar.
At 11 AM, all the guests had an informal interaction with the students of the first batch. At 12 Noon, we had the blessing of the institute followed by delicious lunch. Immediately after the lunch, we had the first meeting of the General Council of MLI at 1.30 PM. Mark Raper thanked all the council members for their presence and also their active participation in the growth and development of the MLI. Taking into the needs of the industry employees and also the poor students who want to further their education, knowledge and skills, MLI has decided to offer the following full time and part time courses in leadership.
Programmes at MLI
1. Graduate Diploma in Leadership (Full Time – One Year)
2. Graduate Diploma in Leadership (Part Time – One Year)
3. Certificate Programme in Leadership (Four Months only)
4. Certificate Programme in Business Communication (10 Weeks only)
The Graduate Diploma both part time and full time has four quarters and runs for one full-year. The part time graduate diploma programme and certificate programmes in Leadership and Business Communication skills will soon commence on 12 November 2018. The contact classes both for part time and certificate leadership programme will be held from every Monday through Thursday and on Saturday from 6.00 PM till 08.00 PM. And for a certificate programme in Business Communication skills, the classes are held three days a week from 6.00 PM till 8.00 PM.
Criteria/requirements for admission are the following.
• An undergraduate degree or equivalent for diploma
• High school graduates for certificate Programmes
• Intermediate level of English,
• Age 18+ with demonstrated maturity,
• Relevant work experience in business sectors/NGOs
